Meet Brandi Savoie, Chief Executive Officer, Founder, & Owner

Hey Sis!

Welcome to the Humble. Empowered. Resilient. Mentorship Program. I am Brandi Savoie, the proud Founder and CEO of this transformative initiative.

God birthed a vision in my heart in 2019 to start The H.E.R. Mentorship program. With His help and the encouragement and support from family and friends, the vision became reality! So many lives were changed!

I witnessed our HER Mentees grow in character and bond. I saw how rewarding it was for our HER Mentors to have a positive impact in the life of a young lady.

I believe this dream I have will be a reality for so many more young girls as they get to experience sisterhood and mentorship the H.E.R. way. I believe God belongs in schools. I believe in bridging the generational gap. I believe in the passing down of wisdom. I believe in the bond of sisterhood that extends past ethnicity, culture, and family. I believe in building up the body of Christ. I believe in having a positive impact in the life of a child.

Our program is dedicated to enriching the lives of young ladies through comprehensive character education, nurturing mentoring relationships, and the development of essential social and emotional skills.

Join us as we journey together in creating an environment where young women are not only prepared to face the world but are equipped to change it for the better.

What H.E.R. Mentors Had to Say

Crystal

I had the pleasure of witnessing my 8th grade HER students mature, grow, & truly learn to love and respect themselves with HER Mentorship. My mentee started her 8th grade school year heavy. She lacked confidence within herself, and due to her environment, she had lost trust in the women figures in her life. It was through the HER program that I learned about her background, and I was able to earn her trust. Week by week she began to open up more and gain confidence in herself. By the end of the year, my mentee was smiling more and walking with her head up, and she had become the president of the Student Council. It was because of HER Mentorship Program, which fostered her growth as a young lady!

Floydreka

I had the privilege of witnessing Brandi create and implement HER, and I also had the pleasure of serving as a mentor in the program. It was clear that she dedicated significant time and effort to ensure each lesson was meaningful for both the mentees and mentors. The lessons were designed to foster strong mental and emotional character in the participants. My mentee and I thoroughly enjoyed the various activities Brandi organized each week, which helped strengthen our bond and created an uplifting experience that everyone looked forward to. I highly recommend HER, both as a consumer and a participant!

Gabriela

Working with HER program as a mentor made me feel very confident as well as excited in being a part of a young girl’s life. Being able to work with a mentee and talking about various aspects of life and about school as well was rewarding in numerous ways. I made sure my mentee felt comfortable speaking with me. We used our HER journal as a part of our daily routine, which helped us get to know each other better. It was an absolute pleasure being a mentor with the HER program.

H.E.R. Mentees Experience

Precious

When I was in the HER program, I felt so comforted. I had someone to talk to about my problems - even the silly ones like boys. One of my favorite parts was the times I spent with my mentor. My mentor gave me the best advice in many different situations I had. For example, my mentor, Mrs. Savoie once told me, “Love myself and do not let anyone tell me otherwise.” l didn't believe it at first, naturally, but as I began to mature, I saw how much of what she told me was true. My other favorite part of the HER program was the after school HER Time Meetings, where we all talk to one another on so many good topics. It was incredible because I related to and connected with girls I probably would have never talked to because of my shyness. With all this said, I hope you consider joining the HER Mentorship Program!

Ashley

The HER program is powerful! Being in HER has deepened my faith and helped me connect with other young women who share my values. The focus on wellness and community service has enriched my life in ways I couldn't have imagined. I'm not just planning for a successful future; I'm living a fulfilling present."

Victory

The H.E.R. Program isn't just about mentorship, it's about building a community where everyone lifts each other up. Thanks to the H.E.R. Program, I've set and achieved goals I once thought were out of reach. The mentoring and faith-based activities have guided me down the right path and shown me how to lead with love and integrity. This program has truly been a blessing in my life."

How does the mentorship aspect work?

Mentors provide guidance, support, and encouragement to help mentees set and achieve S.M.A.R.T. goals, develop positive relationships, and engage in activities that promote personal growth.

What are the costs involved in joining the program?

This is the price for mentees attending Rodeo Palms Jr. High School 2024-2025 school year.

Are mentors provided in the H.E.R. Mentorship Program?

Mentors are an integral part of the H.E.R. Mentorship Program, but they are not automatically assigned. Participants are encouraged to actively seek out a mentor who can provide personalized guidance and support. Ideal mentors can be a female staff member from the participant's school, church, or a family member who embodies the values of the program.

In situations where a girl has not secured a mentor, the program does offer solutions:

  • School Staff and Volunteers: At some schools, staff members or volunteers may sign up to serve as mentors. These individuals are passionate about supporting young women in their personal and spiritual growth.
  • Program Resources: If a mentor has not been asked by a girl to be her mentor, we will facilitate connections through announcements in our online courses and communities. This ensures that every participant has access to mentorship.

We encourage all participants to engage with the H.E.R. online community and courses where further information about securing a mentor and additional mentorship opportunities are regularly updated.

Who can be mentors in the H.E.R. Mentorship Program?

In the H.E.R. Mentorship Program, we welcome women of all ages to become mentors. We believe that wisdom and guidance can come from women at any stage of life, and we value the diverse perspectives and experiences that mentors from various age groups bring to our program. Whether you are a young professional, a seasoned expert in your field, or a retiree with a wealth of life experience, your insights and support can make a significant impact on the lives of young women seeking guidance and inspiration.

How often do mentees meet with their mentors in the H.E.R. Mentorship Program?

The frequency and format of meetings between mentees and mentors in the H.E.R. Mentorship Program are flexible and designed to accommodate the schedules and preferences of both parties. Mentors and mentees are encouraged to collaboratively set a meeting schedule that works best for both. Typically, meetings are held during the hours of 8 AM to 7 PM.

  • Meeting Activities: During these meetings, mentors and mentees engage in various activities, including goal setting and mentor-mentee meet-up activities that foster personal and professional growth.
  • Meeting Format: While we encourage in-person meetings to strengthen the mentor-mentee relationship, we recognize that scheduling conflicts may arise. Therefore, virtual meetings via platforms like Zoom are also supported to ensure consistent and productive interaction.
  • Flexibility and Support: We encourage mentors and mentees to communicate openly about their availability and to adjust meeting times as needed throughout the mentorship period to ensure that the relationship remains strong and beneficial.

What type of activities does the Mentee and Mentor portion of the program include?

What should I do if I lose my charm or bracelet?

If you lose your charm or bracelet, replacements are readily available for purchase. Individual charms are priced at $5 each, bracelets at $10 each, and a full charm bracelet can be replaced for $50.

  • Special Consideration for Graduates: If a mentee has completed the program and subsequently loses their full charm bracelet, they are eligible to purchase a complete replacement bracelet for a discounted rate of $50.
  • For Students at Rodeo Palms Jr. High: If you are a student on the Rodeo Palms Jr. High campus, you will not be required to pay for shipping. You can pick up your replacement charm or bracelet directly from the program administrator at your convenience.
  • For Other Participants: Participants not located on the Rodeo Palms Jr. High campus will need to pay a small shipping fee for the delivery of replacement items. Please contact the program administrator to arrange this.

We understand the sentimental and motivational value of these items in the mentoring experience and strive to ensure you have what you need to continue your journey with us.

How does the online course and community platform work in the H.E.R. Mentorship Program?

The H.E.R. Mentorship Program's online course and community platform is designed to provide a comprehensive and interactive learning environment that supports both personal and professional development. Here’s a breakdown of how it works:

Access and Navigation:

  • Upon registration, participants receive login credentials to access the secure online platform.
  • The platform is user-friendly and can be accessed from any device with internet connectivity, allowing mentees and mentors to engage with the content at their convenience.

Course Structure:

  • The courses are structured into modules based on the program’s curriculum which includes developmental topics, skill-building activities, and faith-based lessons.
  • Each module consists of video lectures, reading materials, and interactive elements such as quizzes and discussion prompts to enhance understanding and retention.

Community Interaction:

  • The platform includes a dedicated community space where participants can connect and engage with one another. This virtual space facilitates lively discussions, peer support, and networking opportunities.
  • Leadership Opportunities: Participants are given leadership roles that allow them to conduct various sessions, enhancing both their leadership skills and community engagement. These roles include leading workout sessions to promote wellness, hosting Bible studies to deepen faith understanding, and guiding cooking classes to share culinary skills.
  • Skill Sharing and Fun Challenges: Girls are encouraged to share their unique skills and participate in fun challenges as outlined in the H.E.R. calendar. This dynamic interaction not only promotes learning and personal growth but also builds a vibrant and supportive sisterhood.
  • Community features such as forums, direct messaging, and group chats support these activities, enabling participants to connect dynamically and share their experiences and insights.

Mentorship Integration:

  • Mentors and mentees can schedule meetings, share resources, and track progress through the platform. This integrated approach ensures that all communications and materials are centralized and accessible.
  • Virtual meetups via the platform’s video conferencing tool make it possible for mentors and mentees to connect face-to-face, fostering a stronger relationship.

Progress Tracking and Feedback:

  • The platform provides tools for tracking the completion of courses and assignments, giving both mentees and mentors a clear view of progress.
  • Feedback mechanisms are built into the platform, allowing mentors to provide constructive feedback on assignments and for mentees to reflect on their learning experiences.

Safety and Security:

  • The platform adheres to strict data protection and privacy policies to ensure that all user data is secure and confidentiality is maintained.
  • Regular updates and technical support are provided to ensure the platform functions smoothly and securely.

Conclusion: Our online courses and community platform are integral to the H.E.R. Mentorship Program, offering a flexible, supportive, and enriched learning environment. This setup not only facilitates educational engagement and mentorship but also fosters a strong community among participants, essential for their growth and development.

What virtual aspects of the H.E.R. Mentorship program are active now?

The H.E.R. Mentorship Program leverages the benefits of virtual participation to ensure accessibility for all, regardless of location. Currently, the program includes several engaging virtual elements:

  • Online Course and Community: Engage with our dynamic online platform where we host challenges, upload educational and inspirational materials, and foster interactions among mentees and mentors.
  • Virtual Events on Zoom: Participate in webinars, workshops, and live events hosted on the Zoom platform. This allows you to connect in real-time with the broader community, enhancing your learning and personal growth from wherever you are.
  • One-on-One Mentorship Sessions: Mentoring sessions can also be conducted virtually, provided both mentor and mentee agree. This flexibility ensures that you can consistently access guidance and support, adapting the mentorship to fit different schedules and geographic locations.

How can I meet with my mentor virtually?

If both you and your mentor agree to meet virtually, using Zoom for your mentor-mentee sessions is a convenient and effective option. Here's how you can set up your virtual meetings:

  1. Schedule Your Meeting: Coordinate with your mentor to select a date and time that works for both of you. Regular, scheduled meetings often lead to a more fruitful mentoring relationship.
  2. Set Up Zoom: If you haven't already, download the Zoom app on your computer, tablet, or smartphone. You can create a free account or log in if you already have one.
  3. Meeting Invitation: Either you or your mentor can create a Zoom meeting. The host will need to send a meeting invitation link, which includes the meeting ID and password, via email or another communication method.
  4. Join the Meeting: At the scheduled time, click on the meeting link or enter the meeting ID on your Zoom app to join the session. Make sure your video and audio are working properly to have an effective meeting.
  5. Discussion Agenda: It’s helpful to prepare an agenda or list of topics you wish to discuss beforehand. This preparation ensures that your meeting is structured and you cover all important points.
  6. Follow-up: After the meeting, you might want to summarize what was discussed and outline any action items or goals for the next meeting. Sharing these notes with your mentor can keep both of you on track.

By following these steps, you can have successful and productive mentorship meetings virtually, ensuring continuous support and guidance no matter where you are.

Can parents and guardians get involved in the H.E.R. Mentorship Program?

Absolutely! Parental and guardian involvement is crucial to the success of the H.E.R. Mentorship Program. There are numerous ways you can support and engage with the program and your child’s development:

  1. Stay Informed: Keep up with the H.E.R. Calendar to stay informed about upcoming meetings and events. Your awareness and encouragement can significantly boost your child’s participation and enthusiasm.
  2. Volunteer: Subject to a background check and school administration approval, parents can volunteer at H.E.R. Time Meetings. Your presence and support can enrich the experience for everyone involved.
  3. Provide Snacks: For in-person meetings, parents can donate snacks for the H.E.R. Time meetings, helping to create a welcoming and nurturing environment.
  4. Support Academic and Program Commitments: Encourage and hold your mentee accountable for completing their independent practice assignments. These are due weekly to mentors, and completion is rewarded with a charm, recognizing their effort and dedication.
  5. Fundraising Support: Help support the costs of the program by sharing the H.E.R. Fundraiser with family, friends, and coworkers on behalf of your daughter. This not only helps fund the program but also raises awareness about the H.E.R. initiative.

What measures are in place to ensure the safety of mentees?

Ensuring the safety of mentees in any program is paramount. Here are some common safety measures that might be implemented in the H.E.R. Mentorship Program:

1. Background Checks

  • All mentors and staff undergo comprehensive background checks before they can interact with mentees. This includes checks against criminal records and any other relevant safety databases.

2. Training for Mentors and Staff

  • Mentors and staff receive training on child safety, emergency response, and how to handle sensitive situations. This training ensures that everyone understands how to create a safe and supportive environment for the mentees.

3. Secure Communication Platforms

  • The program uses secure, monitored platforms for any communication between mentors and mentees, ensuring that all interactions are appropriate and that personal data is protected.

4. Supervised Sessions

  • All in-person and virtual meetings are supervised by program staff or conducted in controlled environments to ensure mentees' safety.

5. Clear Behavioral Guidelines

  • Both mentors and mentees are informed of the program’s behavioral guidelines, which outline appropriate interactions and define boundaries to maintain a professional and safe relationship.

6. Emergency Protocols

  • The program establishes clear emergency protocols, including immediate steps to be taken in case of an incident and contact information for emergency services. Both mentors and mentees are educated about these protocols.

7. Regular Check-Ins

  • Program coordinators regularly check in with both mentors and mentees to ensure that the relationship is positive and beneficial. This also helps to quickly identify and resolve any issues that may arise.

8. Anonymous Reporting System

  • An anonymous reporting system is in place for mentees to report any concerns or negative experiences without fear of repercussions. This system helps maintain transparency and accountability.

9. Parental Involvement

  • The program encourages and facilitates parental involvement in various aspects of the program to ensure an additional layer of oversight and comfort for the mentees.

10. Continuous Review and Improvement

These measures collectively help create a secure and nurturing environment for mentees, ensuring that they can focus on their personal growth and development within the H.E.R. Mentorship Program.

What if my child has a food allergy that prevents her from eating the snacks?

The safety and well-being of all participants are our top priorities, especially when it comes to food allergies. If your child has a food allergy, please take the following steps to ensure her needs are accommodated:

  1. Inform the Program Coordinators: As soon as possible, let us know about your child's food allergies. Provide specific details about the type of allergy, potential reactions, and any emergency measures that should be taken if exposure occurs.
  2. Provide Alternative Snacks: We encourage parents of children with food allergies to provide safe snacks for their children if the provided options do not meet their dietary needs. This helps ensure that your child can still enjoy snack times safely.
  3. Update Medical Forms: Ensure that your child’s medical forms are up-to-date with all allergy information. This documentation helps us stay informed and ready to respond appropriately in any situation.
  4. Email Staff: If possible, email the program staff to discuss your child’s needs and any necessary precautions that should be taken during program hours. We are here to help create a safe environment for your child.
  5. Emergency Plan: Work with the program to establish an emergency action plan, ensuring that all staff members who might interact with your child are aware of her allergies and know how to respond in case of an allergic reaction.

By taking these steps, you can help us create a safer and more inclusive environment for your child and all participants with special dietary needs.

What does the Jr. Mentor Program work?

If I didn’t finish all of my work, can I still be a Jr. Mentor?

Becoming a Jr. Mentor is an important responsibility that involves a commitment to both your personal and academic growth. If you have not completed all of your work, here’s how you can address this while considering the role of a Jr. Mentor:

  1. Review Requirements: Ensure you understand the requirements for becoming a Jr. Mentor. This includes completing certain tasks or reaching specific milestones that demonstrate your readiness and capability to lead.
  2. Speak with a Program Coordinator: Discuss your current situation with a program coordinator. They can offer advice on how to make up incomplete work and what steps are needed to qualify for a Jr. Mentor position.
  3. Demonstrate Commitment: Show your dedication to the program by seeking ways to complete your missed work and fulfilling all necessary responsibilities. This may include additional assignments or tasks to showcase your leadership skills.
  4. Apply for Conditional Acceptance: If permissible, apply for conditional acceptance to the Jr. Mentor role, where your complete acceptance might depend on finishing all outstanding work within a given timeframe.
  5. Utilize Support Resources: Utilize any tutoring or support services provided by the program to help you complete your assignments and prepare for the mentoring role.
  6. Continuous Improvement: Highlight your ongoing efforts towards personal growth and development. Active improvement can significantly influence your eligibility for a Jr. Mentor role.

Please Note: It is important to be aware that there will be no refunds for Jr. Mentor materials or experiences if the coursework is not completed. We encourage you to consider this commitment seriously and make sure you are able to meet all program requirements before enrolling or purchasing materials.

By proactively addressing your incomplete work and maintaining open communication with program staff, you can still pursue your goal of becoming a Jr. Mentor.

Year 2 in the H.E.R. Mentorship Program: Expanding Horizons

**1. Advanced Mentorship: As mentees become more comfortable and established within the program, the mentorship can shift to more focused areas of interest or need. Mentors might work with mentees to set more challenging goals and provide guidance on more complex issues such as advanced academic projects, leadership roles, or preparing for college or career paths.

**2. Leadership Development: The second year could introduce more intensive leadership training, including workshops or courses on leadership styles, decision-making, conflict resolution, and effective communication. This could also involve opportunities to lead smaller groups within the program, take on project management roles, or represent the mentorship program in external events.

**3. Specialized Workshops and Seminars: Building on the foundational skills from the first year, Year 2 can offer workshops that focus on specialized topics. These might include advanced financial literacy, professional etiquette, in-depth studies on wellness and health, or specific career-oriented skills like coding, writing, or public speaking.

**4. Community Engagement and Service Projects: Increasing the involvement in community service gives mentees a chance to apply their skills in real-world settings and make a tangible impact. This could be in the form of organized volunteer days, service projects, or partnerships with local organizations.

**5. Peer Mentoring: Second-year mentees might be given the opportunity to mentor newer members of the program, helping to reinforce their own learning and develop their mentoring skills. This peer mentoring can be a valuable leadership experience and a way to foster a supportive community within the program.

**6. Internships and Networking Opportunities: Introducing mentees to internships related to their areas of interest or planned career paths can be a key feature of the second year. Networking events with professionals in the field, alumni of the program, or other community leaders can also be beneficial.

**7. Capstone Projects: Mentees could have the opportunity to work on a capstone project that encapsulates their learnings and achievements from the first two years. This project could be presented at a year-end showcase to the community and program sponsors.

**8. Reflection and Feedback: Continuous feedback sessions and reflective practices can help mentees gauge their growth over the past two years and plan their future steps within or outside the program.

**9. Preparation for Year 3: For programs that extend beyond two years, preparation for the next phase could begin by identifying areas of interest that require more in-depth exploration or finding ways to take on greater responsibility within the program.

Is there a H.I.M. Program on the horizon?

Yes, we are planning to introduce a H.I.M. Program, targeted at mentoring young men, similar to our H.E.R. Mentorship Program. We aim to launch this initiative in a few years. We are currently in the planning stages, working on developing a curriculum and structure that will effectively address the unique needs and challenges faced by young men. Stay tuned for updates and developments on this exciting new program!

Why didn’t I get all my HER Curriculum books together?

In your initial H.E.R. Kit, both mentees receive Part 1 of the Mentee and Mentor Workbook, the Mentee and Mentor Manuals and Mentor Workbook Guide, and Part 1 of the HER Time Meetings Books. We designed this initial distribution to give you the essential materials needed to get started with the program effectively.

The remaining curriculum books are scheduled to be distributed in January. The delay is due to our commitment to providing the most effective and well-prepared resources. Some parts of our curriculum are still undergoing the final stages of the publication process to ensure they meet our high standards for quality and relevance.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we finalize these materials, and we are excited to provide you with complete resources that will support your journey in the H.E.R. Program.
